Bangkok: The Transport Company (BKS) is gearing up to accommodate the influx of travelers during the long Mother's Day holiday from August 9-12. Mr. Atthavit Rakjamroon, President of the Transport Company Limited (BKS), announced that the organization is fully prepared to handle the expected surge in passenger numbers as people return to their hometowns to celebrate the birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother and Mother's Day.
According to Thai News Agency, BKS anticipates an average of 100,000 travelers utilizing their services for round trips over the four-day holiday period. An estimated 6,000 trips will be facilitated daily by BKS buses and joint-venture buses. To meet the increased demand, approximately 150 non-scheduled extra buses will be deployed to prevent any passengers from being stranded.
Mr. Atthavit emphasized the company's commitment to safety, instructing officials and bus operators to conduct thorough inspections of bus readiness. Safety checks will ensure that all equipment is in working order before buses are put into service. Drivers are required to have sufficient rest, undergo drug and alcohol testing, and maintain zero alcohol levels. Compliance with speed limits and traffic regulations is mandatory, with two drivers assigned to routes longer than four hours. Passengers are advised to wear seatbelts at all times to enhance safety and public confidence in public transportation.
