TRANG: A New Year's Eve celebration turned distressing when a group of teenagers threw ping-pong firecrackers, injuring a 1-year-old child at Pak Meng Beach in Trang Province. The child, identified as 'Nong Sky,' suffered burns, a bruised lung, and required seven stitches.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred on the evening of December 31, 2014, amidst New Year festivities. A group of 2-3 teenagers, reportedly intoxicated, engaged in a confrontation with another group at the beach. In the exchange, they threw firecrackers that inadvertently struck 'Nong Sky,' who was asleep nearby while his family celebrated. The impact caused the child's shirt to ignite and inflicted injuries.
Ms. Daranee, the child's mother, expressed her anguish over her daughter's injuries and indicated her intention to press charges against those responsible. She stated that a recording of the perpetrators was obtained and has been submitted as evidence to the Sikao Police Station in hopes of seeking justice for her child.
