Tourists Flock to Prasat Ta Muen Thom Base to Support Soldiers

Surin: During the long holiday weekend from May 31 to June 3, a significant number of Thai tourists visited Prasat Ta Muen Thom in Tambon Ta Miang, Amphoe Phanom Dong Rak, Surin Province, to show support for soldiers stationed at the base.

According to Thai News Agency, unlike previous visits where tourists would explore the castle and seek blessings from sacred objects, this time, visitors brought gifts such as equipment, rice, dried food, instant noodles, canned fish, and drinking water. These offerings were given to soldiers of the 21st Infantry Battalion, 2nd Special Task Force, Suranaree Force, as morale boosters for their duties along the Thai-Cambodian border. Tourists also took group photos with the soldiers to express their encouragement and support.

Prasat Ta Muen Thom is one of three temples that were at the center of a historical dispute. The former Cambodian Prime Minister had sought a resolution from the Cambodian parliament to request the International Court of Justice to determine the ownership of these temples, whether they belong to Thailand or Cambodia.
