Bangkok: "Thirat" has ordered governors nationwide to be on standby 24 hours a day to deal with the impact of Typhoon Kajiki, emphasizing the need to continuously disseminate information to the public and ensure they are prepared.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Thirat Rattanawanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, revealed that the Ministry of Interior, through the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), has been monitoring weather conditions in collaboration with relevant agencies regarding the impacts of Tropical Storm Kajiki. Some areas are at risk of flash floods, forest runoff, mudslides, and flooding in urban areas experiencing recurring flooding from August 24-28, 2025, in the northern, northeastern, central, and southern regions, 45 provinces, and Bangkok.
Ms. Thirat has ordered the governors of 45 provinces and their regional disaster prevention and mitigation centers, including Bangkok, to urge officials to closely monitor weather conditions, rainfall, and water levels in their areas. She has also ordered operational teams and emergency machinery to be deployed to at-risk areas to respond to incidents and provide timely assistance to the public 24/7. She has also issued warnings and blocked off areas where any potential risk is identified. In coastal areas, swimming is prohibited for tourists and all types of boating is prohibited if the situation becomes severe.
"Governors, district chiefs, and local administrative organizations should urgently inform the public and closely monitor weather and government news updates. They should also notify people in at-risk areas in advance to prepare for the situation and strictly follow government advice. They should also refrain from believing in fake news that may misrepresent facts. The public can inquire about information and request assistance via the 24-hour hotline 1784," said Ms. Thirat.
