Thammanat Claims Support for Prime Minister Without Seeking Ministerial Positions

Bangkok: Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, advisor to the Kla Tham Party, announced that there are 10 votes of support from the opposition in favor of the Prime Minister. He emphasized that these votes should not be labeled as "cobras," but rather as expressions of political camaraderie and ideology, aiming to benefit citizens as their representatives. Thammanat clarified that the support was not provided in exchange for positions or ministerial quotas, but to strengthen the government.

According to Thai News Agency, Thammanat addressed questions about the potential increase in ministerial positions with the rise in support, stating that such discussions would be handled by the party leader. He also commented on the rumors regarding Mr. Ekarat Changlao, an MP for Khon Kaen from the Bhumjaithai Party, potentially joining the Kla Tham Party. Thammanat assured that he had communicated with the Bhumjaithai Party leader to ensure no conflicts arise between the parties.

Thammanat was questioned about the necessity of seeking additional votes despite the government having enough to secure a vote of confidence for the prime minister. He responded that building a network of members and candidates is essential due to the unpredictable nature of politics. He assured that the Kla Tham Party remains committed to being a political institution chosen by the people, and plans to visit areas from Chumphon to Narathiwat to identify potential candidates.

When asked about any indications of a cabinet reshuffle from the Prime Minister after six months in office, Thammanat noted that he did not attend the coalition party meeting, which is the responsibility of the party leader and secretary-general. He was informed that there have been no signals regarding a reshuffle.

Finally, Thammanat commented on the Ministry of Agriculture's performance following recent debates. He noted that the three ministers are actively working without breaks and will continue to visit areas to support MPs and prospective candidates.
