The party emphasizes the need for Pheu Thai to continue functioning as a political entity independent of any single individual.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Panusaya Wacharasindhu, a party-list MP and spokesperson for the People's Party, discussed the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions' decision regarding Thaksin's hospital stay at the Police General Hospital. The court ruled that the stay could not be suspended, resulting in an additional year of imprisonment as mandated by a royal decree commuting the sentence. Mr. Panusaya stated that acknowledging the People's Party's stance on Thaksin requires an understanding of the factual background. He noted that Thaksin was a victim of a coup, compelling him to leave Thailand for two decades, with many suspecting the case against him was politically motivated.
Mr. Panusaya highlighted that two years ago, Thaksin's return to Thailand and decision to enter the justice system marked a critical point in ensuring equitable treatment within the system.
