Bangkok: Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) confirms that Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister, will definitely give a speech tomorrow, addressing rumors that he plans to flee the country.
According to Thai News Agency, the committee responsible for overseeing the prevention, suppression, and resolution of drug-related issues has organized a meeting of the 3/2568 NRC committee. This meeting is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at the Office of the Narcotics Control Board. Thaksin Shinawatra, serving as an advisor to the ASEAN Chair, has been invited to present a special lecture on 'Drugs, transnational crime, perspectives and challenges for sustainable problem solving.'
Pol. Lt. Gen. Panurat Lakboon, Secretary-General of the ONCB, emphasized the ongoing duty to monitor, evaluate, and develop the mechanisms in place for addressing public safety, such as the STOP SEAL SAVE initiative. He noted that after a period of implementation, typically six months, there arises a need to assess the effectiveness and make necessary improvements. He expressed confidence in Thaksin's expertise, citing his past experience as Prime Minister and his successful efforts in addressing Thailand's drug issues nearly 30 years ago.
