From the dazzling fireworks in Chiang Mai to cultural festivities in Maha Sarakham, these events highlighted Thailand's rich heritage and growing tourism prospects. According to Thai News Agency, the "AMAZING Chiang Mai COUNTDOWN 2025" captivated tens of thousands of tourists at the Royal Park Rajapruek with a stunning display of fireworks over the Royal Pavilion. The event, which featured performances by popular artists including BamBam, also aimed to boost tourism in Chiang Mai. Mr. Nithi Sriprae, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), expressed optimism that the event would attract around 500,000 tourists to Chiang Mai, generating an estimated 4 billion baht during the holiday period. In Southern Thailand, Hat Yai City was illuminated with an extensive fireworks display that lasted over 10 minutes, marking the transition from 2024 to 2025. The Tourism Authority of Thailand partnered with Hat Yai Municipality to transform the city's commercial areas into a vibrant district with lighting displays on Sino-European style buildings. Ms. Watchanan Silpawornwiwat, Director of the Southern Region at TAT, noted a 30% growth in tourism for 2024, with a significant influx of Malaysian tourists expected in the coming year. Meanwhile, Hua Hin also hosted a lively countdown at the Blueport lawn, featuring performances by renowned artists like J Jetrin and Kim Yugyeom from Got 7. Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkij, Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing at TAT, highlighted the event's success in attracting over 200,000 tourists and generating nearly 200 million baht in revenue, with hotels reaching full occupancy. In the northeast, the 'Maha Sarakham Countdown Festival, Soft Power of the Lower Northeast 2025' offered a 12-day celebration showcasing local culture and community products. Supported by TAT, this initiative aime d to stimulate the local economy and promote the unique identity of Maha Sarakham Province. These events collectively underscored Thailand's efforts to leverage its cultural richness and hospitality to boost tourism and economic growth as the nation welcomed the new year.
