Thailand Ready to Host Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament


Bangkok: The Boxing Association of Thailand has announced its readiness to organize the Thailand Open International boxing tournament, which will kick off this Saturday.



According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Chaiwat Chotima, Secretary-General of the Boxing Association of Thailand, confirmed the readiness to host the 4th ‘Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament 2025’. The tournament will compete for the trophy bestowed by His Majesty King Rama X from 24 May to 1 June at the Indoor Stadium Huamark, with more than 250 athletes from 25 countries set to participate.



In terms of the readiness of Thai athletes, five teams will be sent to compete. This participation aims to allow Thai athletes to gain experience with foreign boxers from countries such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, North Korea, and Ukraine.



Pol. Lt. Gen. Chaiwat Chotima stated that he did not have high hopes for the Thai boxing team in this event. However, he emphasized the importance of using the international experience to develop themselves as main players for the SEA Games, which Thailand will host later this year. Additionally, he announced monetary incentives for Thai athletes, with 300,000 baht for gold medals, 200,000 baht for silver medals, and 100,000 baht for bronze medals.
