Thailand Braces for Intense Heat and Sporadic Thunderstorms

Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has reported that the upper part of Thailand will experience hot weather during the day, with some areas facing very hot conditions and sporadic thunderstorms. Meanwhile, the southern region is expected to see minimal rainfall.

According to Thai News Agency, the weather forecast for the next 24 hours indicates that the upper part of Thailand will generally be hot throughout the day, with very hot conditions prevailing in some areas. The upper regions may also experience thunderstorms due to low pressure caused by heat in these areas. In contrast, the southern and southeasterly winds are affecting the area, leading to minimal rain in the southern region. Residents in the upper part of Thailand are advised to take precautions for their health and avoid prolonged exposure to open areas due to the rising temperatures. Additionally, the weak easterly wind covering the Gulf of Thailand, the southern region, and the Andaman Sea contributes to the reduced rainfall in the southern region during this period.

The detailed forecast from 6:00 AM today to 6:00 AM tomorrow reveals that the northern region will be hot to very hot during the day, with isolated thunderstorms primarily in the western areas. Temperatures are expected to range between 17-26 degrees Celsius for the minimum and 35-40 degrees Celsius for the maximum, with south winds blowing at speeds of 10-15 km/hr. The minimum temperature will range between 24-26 degrees Celsius, while the maximum will be between 37-39 degrees Celsius, accompanied by south winds at 10-20 km/hr. The eastern region will also experience hot weather, with thunderstorms expected in 10 percent of the area and strong winds in some parts, particularly in Nakhon Nayok, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Temperatures will range from 24-26 degrees Celsius minimum to 33-38 degrees Celsius maximum, with southeast winds at 10-30 km/hr. Offshore, the sea will have waves about 1 meter high, and in areas with thunderstorms, waves could exceed 2 meters.

For the southern region along the east coast, thunderstorms are expected in 10 percent of the area, mainly in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, with temperatures ranging from 22-25 degrees Celsius minimum to 32-35 degrees Celsius maximum. Easterly winds will blow at 15-30 km/hr, with waves in the sea approximately 1 meter high, rising over 2 meters in thunderstorm areas.
