Bangkok: A recent survey conducted by Super Poll has unveiled that an overwhelming 99.5% of Thai citizens trust the military's capability to safeguard the nation amidst the ongoing Thai-Cambodian conflict.
According to Thai News Agency, the survey, titled 'Survey of Public Opinion on the Thai-Cambodian War Situation', was conducted between July 25-26, 2025, by Mr. Noppadol Karnnika, Director of Super Poll Research Center. It utilized both quantitative and qualitative research methods with a sample size of 1,054 individuals from various professions across the country.
The survey revealed key insights into public opinion on the conflict. A significant 94.3% of respondents expressed the need for the political sector to enhance support for displaced individuals, focusing on aspects such as living expenses, debt burdens, welfare, careers, and sanitation. Meanwhile, 91.8% of participants highlighted the importance of national unity and cooperation among Thais, and 91.5% urged the government to expedite peace negotiations without yielding to external pressures. Additionally, 88.9% emphasized the need for economic recovery and job creation post-conflict.
The findings reflect the public's strong confidence in the Thai military as the defender of national sovereignty. The survey also highlighted the public's demand for humanitarian compensation for migrants, underscoring the importance of social security alongside national security. Internal unity and dignified negotiations were also deemed crucial, with many citizens advocating for stability and quality of life improvements after the conflict.
The survey further indicated that 95.8% of respondents were deeply concerned about refugees affected by the conflict, with only a small fraction expressing little to no concern. This points to a strong sense of public consciousness and readiness to support fellow citizens in crisis, suggesting effective humanitarian communication efforts by the government and media.
The public has called for urgent government measures, prioritizing emergency financial assistance, debt suspension, and job creation. Other necessary actions include establishing funds to rebuild damaged homes, setting up mobile medical units, and creating safe economic zones for trade and employment. These measures reflect the public's recognition of the fragile economic situation and the broader impact of the conflict on societal well-being.
The survey's findings underscore the intertwined responsibilities of the military and government in ensuring both national and public security. The collective voice of the people during this crisis signifies a powerful force of unity, aiming to forge a stronger, more equitable future for Thailand.
