Bangkok: The delegation, comprising key government figures, met with the Prime Minister to discuss housing initiatives for Thai citizens and welfare improvements for the lower class. The meeting, held at the Thai Khu Fah Building, focused on addressing pressing social issues impacting the nation.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, led the delegation, which included Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, and General Snitchanok Sangkhachan, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defense. They were accompanied by Mr. Thaweephong Wichaidit, Governor of the National Housing Authority, and other relevant agencies. The meeting with Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra lasted approximately an hour.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defense clarified that the discussion was not related to the repatriation of Uighurs to China, a topic that the Ministry of Defense plans to address separately during an upcoming visit. Instead, the meeting focused on welfare matters for lower-ranking civil servants.
The meeting also aimed to address the progression of housing projects specifically targeting junior military officers. This initiative is part of a broader government effort to improve living conditions and provide adequate housing solutions for Thai citizens, particularly those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
