Bangkok: Three approaches to solving the problem of Cambodians encroaching on Thai sovereignty were proposed. The spokesman for the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters revealed the results of a special meeting of the military commanders, which approved three approaches to resolving the issue of Cambodians encroaching on Thai sovereignty.
According to Thai News Agency, Major General Witai Laithomya, spokesman for the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, disclosed the details of the special meeting of military commanders. The meeting resolved to approve a solution to the Cambodian encroachment on sovereignty, with action to be taken at the earliest opportunity. The main points of the proposed solution are outlined as follows:
Firstly, the plan involves complying with the Martial Law Act of 1914 and other related laws, by analogy, to facilitate and ensure strictness in implementation. This approach is intended to provide a legal framework for addressing the encroachment issue.
Secondly, the Army Operations Center shall prepare an operational plan, routine operating procedures, and rules of force that are consistent with international human rights law and Thai law. This preparation aims to ensure that all actions taken are within legal boundaries and respect human rights.
Lastly, the proposal requests the involvement of the Ministry of Interior, the Royal Thai Police, and various legal officials, including local forces, to support and join the military in operations. This collaboration is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the operations and ensure a unified approach.
The Royal Thai Army, the Ministry of Interior, and the Royal Thai Police are committed to working together to protect national sovereignty, strengthen security, and ensure the safety of life and property of citizens along the border.
