Taipei: The Thai senior athletes continue to collect gold medals from the World Senior Games, with Rungyot Sriworapongphan taking the first place in the fencing epee category.
According to Thai News Agency, the 10th World Masters Games 2025 in Taipei, Taiwan, saw Thai athletes competing on the second day with remarkable success.
Fencing at the Gymnasium of Taipei University Tianmu Campus, on the first day of competition, the Thai national fencing team secured 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal in the epee category. This feat began with the 70 years old and over male category, where Thai athletes Ruengyot Sriworapongphan and Suthipong Santithewakul faced off in the finals. Ruengyot Sriworapongphan emerged victorious with a score of 10-6, clinching the first gold medal for the Thai fencing team, while Suthipong Santithewakul earned the silver medal.
In athletics, the Thai team competed in 12 events, achieving 4 gold medals and 3 silver medals. Over the course of 2 days, the Thai contingent amassed a total of 13 gold medals and 6 silver medals, marking a significant achievement for the team.
