Thai Airways Marks Triumphant Return to Stock Exchange of Thailand

Bangkok: Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) celebrated its return to the Stock Exchange of Thailand, marking the success of its rehabilitation program. This event signaled a new chapter for the national airline, with its share price experiencing an immediate surge upon the reopening of the market.

According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony took place at the Stock Exchange of Thailand, with notable figures such as Mr. Larawon Sangsanit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Chairman of THAI, leading the opening. Mr. Chai Iamsiri, CEO of THAI, was also present alongside Professor Emeritus Dr. Kitipong Urapipatanapong, Chairman of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, and Mr. Asadej Kongsiri, Director and President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand. Representatives from various agencies attended to extend their congratulations.

THAI's shares opened at 10.50 baht per share, reflecting a 134.4% increase from the last closing price before suspension, resulting in a market capitalization nearing 300 billion baht. The share price quickly climbed to 11 baht per share shortly after market opening.

Mr. Lawaron highlighted the company's commitment to restructuring for agility, transparency, and governance, which contributed to strong performance last year and growth in the current year. THAI is advancing with a five-year investment strategy, which includes acquiring 80 new aircraft. Of these, 45 are contracted, with an option for 35 more. This strategy provides flexibility in aircraft selection and timing, with the aim of re-establishing THAI as a leader in the aviation industry and a prominent company on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

Mr. Chai emphasized that the acquisition of additional aircraft will enhance operations by expanding routes and flight frequencies, transforming THAI into a regional network airline that connects regional and intercontinental routes, thereby increasing revenue potential as planned.
