“Teng” Urges DSI to Take On Senate Collusion Case, Citing Clear Evidence

Bangkok: "Teng" has expressed his desire for the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to take on the Senate collusion case, asserting that the evidence is clear and indicates that the Senate's selection process contradicts public opinion. Despite admitting his lack of legal expertise, he has stated his willingness to participate in the investigation if it falls under the opposition's authority.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the Prachachon Party and the opposition in the House of Representatives, discussed the possibility of the DSI examining the Senate collusion case this afternoon. He emphasized the need for the agency to perform its duties without preconceived notions regarding the case's acceptance. Given the clarity of the evidence, he believes that the DSI or relevant agencies should act decisively and accept the case for investigation.

When questioned about the possibility of clandestine meetings prior to the investigation, Mr. Nattapong expressed his desire to avoid such scenarios. He called for transparency from the involved agencies and urged the public to focus on the broader implications of the situation rather than the voting actions of current senators. He highlighted the need to amend the constitution concerning the origin of the senators, as the selection process currently conflicts with public perception.

Addressing concerns about senators asserting that the Election Commission (EC), rather than the DSI, holds jurisdiction over the matter, Mr. Nattapong acknowledged his lack of detailed legal knowledge. However, he affirmed that if any issue falls within the authority of the Members of Parliament and the opposition, they are prepared to assist in the investigation.
