Taskforce Pushes Forward with Thai Capital Market Development Measures

Bangkok: The Taskforce is moving ahead with crucial measures aimed at developing the Thai capital market. These initiatives are designed to enhance the market's competitiveness, boost confidence, and adapt to the evolving digital landscape.

According to Thai News Agency, the Taskforce for the Consideration of Thai Capital Market Reform Measures convened for its second meeting in 2025 on August 21. The meeting focused on promoting the "Thai Capital Market Development Measures" in collaboration with relevant agencies. This initiative seeks to enhance international competitiveness and foster long-term confidence in the Thai capital market. The taskforce includes representatives from the Fiscal Policy Office, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the SEC Board, the Capital Market Supervisory Board, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations, the Association of Thai Securities Companies, and the Association of Investment Management Companies. The taskforce is co-led by Ms. Pornanong Busaratrakul, Secretary-General of the SEC, and Mr. Asadej Kongsiri, President of the SET.

The meeting's objective was to strengthen the Thai capital market's resilience in the face of global economic fluctuations, international competition, shifting investor behavior, and the digital transformation era. The measures agreed upon aim to fortify key capital market mechanisms, increasing their appeal to compete globally.
