Bangkok: Police are gathering evidence to issue a summons for the driver of a red sedan who chased and hit a motorcycle after the victim filed a complaint. The company has ordered his suspension.
According to Thai News Agency, progress in the case of a red Mazda sedan that honked at and hit a big bike has been made. The victim complained to the Sai Mai Must Sod page and filed a complaint. It was found that there were clips of the red sedan driver causing incidents like this frequently. Another victim recently filed a complaint, reporting that he was also hit by a red sedan.
The latest victim, Mr. Peerawat, 22 years old, recounted his experience. On July 4th of last year, he was driving on Ratchaphruek Road to go home amid a moderate amount of traffic. He admitted to driving fast and switching between the middle and right lanes. He noticed a red Mazda sedan driving fast and weaving back and forth in his rearview mirror. Trying to make way, he eventually turned on his signal to change lanes, but the red sedan honked at him. Shocked, Mr. Peerawat initially thought he had hit someone and began to slow down. The sedan overtook and honked at him, then cut him off, which startled him. Despite attempts to engage, they eventually went their separate ways. Two months later, Mr. Peerawat discovered a post on Facebook with a clip of his car, a threatening message, and his license plate, causing him to fear using the road again. Upon investigation, he found that the driver of the red sedan had a well-known last name.
Pol. Col. Somchai Chaengthamma, Superintendent of Bang Sri Muang Police Station, stated that after receiving the complaint, investigators will question and collect evidence to issue a summons for the red Mazda sedan driver. The aim is to determine the cause of the collision and ensure fairness to both parties. Legal action will be taken if the Mazda driver is found to have committed an offence. Although the police have coordinated with the driver to meet, he has not shown signs of fleeing and promised to cooperate, requesting time to prepare. However, the sedan owner turned off his phone due to pressure from reporters and strangers.
Additionally, the company employing the "Red Mazda Guy" issued a statement acknowledging the social media information related to their employee. An initial investigation was conducted, leading to advice and a preliminary warning for the employee to be mindful of his responsibilities. To ensure a smooth investigation and maintain the organization's image, the employee is temporarily suspended from March 3, 2025, until the investigation concludes. The company commits to handling the matter with caution, transparency, and fairness to all parties, aiming to resolve it promptly.
