Stithorn Advocates “Half-Half Plus” for Economic Stimulation and Tax Integration

Bangkok: "Stithorn" promotes "Half-Half Plus" as a double-the-line policy that stimulates the economy and brings citizens into the tax system. Mr. Stithorn Thananithichot, a lecturer at the Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University, commented on the "Half-Half Plus" project, which launched this October. He said it was an extension of a policy already familiar to the public and a strategy that would both stimulate the economy and reduce the cost of living for the public.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Stithorn stated that the key advantage of "Half-Half Plus" lies in its subsidy based on the recipient's tax status. This helps facilitate rapid and thorough distribution of funds to small businesses, while also providing incentives for citizens to properly enter the tax system. This represents a two-fold benefit to the budget, both in the short term, by stimulating the economy, and in the long term, by linking policy with the tax system, fostering fiscal discipline in the country.

Mr. Stithorn also expressed concerns about technical and system usability issues. Given that this is a project with a large number of people participating before, the registration system must be stable and prevent unwarranted spending behavior to avoid jeopardizing confidence and the overall positive results of the project.
