Bangkok: SRT facilitates Songkran festival with 26 more special trips to accommodate people's travel. It is recommended to book tickets through the D-Ticket system or at stations nationwide.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed that during the Songkran Festival in 2025, the State Railway of Thailand has added passenger cars to its regular trains, covering 214 trains per day. This expansion allows for no less than 100,000 additional passengers daily. Moreover, 26 special trains will be introduced to aid travelers on the Northern, Northeastern, and Southern routes from April 11-17, 2025, catering to both outbound and return journeys.
Mr. Karam highlighted that tickets can be booked through the D-Ticket system or at any train station across the country. Passengers also have the option to track train schedules in real time via the Train Tracking System (TTS), which provides instant updates on the time and location of every train.
For security, SRT has partnered with railway police and related agencies to maintain safety and order. Measures include advising passengers on safety protocols, ensuring employees have zero alcohol and drug levels before duty, and installing security guards and CCTV cameras at stations and on trains nationwide.
Mr. Karam added that citizens seeking more information can contact the Customer Service Center at telephone number 1690, available 24 hours a day.
