SEOUL: South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, recently ousted from office and suspended from his duties, pledged to fight against an arrest warrant issued for his declaration of martial law on December 3. In a letter addressing his supporters, Yoon expressed his determination to continue resisting legal actions against him.
According to Thai News Agency, Yoon's lawyer disclosed that the embattled leader had sent a letter to hundreds of supporters who had gathered near his official residence. In the letter, Yoon mentioned that he had been monitoring their activities via a YouTube live broadcast and acknowledged their efforts. He assured them of his steadfast resolve to collaborate with them in a bid to protect the nation.
The Democratic Party, which holds a majority in the South Korean parliament, has been advocating for Yoon's impeachment, with a vote scheduled for December 14. The party contends that Yoon's letter serves as evidence of his misguided actions and his commitment to pursuing a rebellion. Furthermore, Yoon is accused of attempting to incite his supporters to confront those who oppose him.
