Bangkok: Somkid Chuekong, former Pheu Thai Party MP for Ubon Ratchathani, has openly backed Chaturon Chaisang, a party-list MP, as the new leader of the Pheu Thai Party following the resignation of Paethongtarn Shinawatra. Somkid believes Chaturon is well-suited to steer the party in the current political landscape.
According to Thai News Agency, Somkid described Chaturon as an experienced politician with a firm commitment to democracy and a comprehensive understanding of political matters. Despite not having consulted with Chaturon or other party members, Somkid expressed his confidence in Chaturon's ability to "shine his own light" and guide the party forward effectively.
