Pattani: A ranger soldier armed with an M16 shot and killed a police officer inside his house before riding a motorcycle out of the victim's house to surrender to the Pattani City Police. Initially, the perpetrator gave a confusing statement due to being delusional.
According to Thai News Agency, Pattani Police Station investigated a shooting death in a house in Talubo Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pattani Province. At the scene, a deceased person was found in the kitchen. The person was identified as Sgt. Abdulkolae, age 33, Commander of the Suppression Unit, Yarang Police Station, Pattani Province. The body had been shot multiple times in the torso. At the scene, an M16 rifle, a 9 mm handgun, and seven empty .16 caliber cartridges were found.
The investigation revealed that while Sgt. Abdulkor, who was on a break, was returning to his house where the incident occurred, he was in the kitchen when Mr. Ruskawan, aged 33, a volunteer ranger and friend of Sgt. Abdulkor, rode a motorcycle to the house. He walked up to Sgt. Abdulkor and several gunshots were heard.
After the gunfire stopped, the assailant rode a motorcycle out of the victim's house and surrendered to the Pattani City Police. Initially, the assailant gave a confusing statement, making it impossible to make sense of the incident because he was hallucinating. The officers therefore took him into custody for further questioning.
It is believed that the two individuals had a fight and a violent argument, which led to the shooting of Pol.Sgt.Maj. Abdulko and his death. The M16 rifle used by the perpetrator was found to belong to Pol.Sgt.Maj. Abdulko and the deceased, which he obtained from the government for use on official duty. The perpetrator was a volunteer ranger.
