Sakon Nakhon: A former village headman was shot dead while walking into the bathroom, while the gunman was the one who called the police and was waiting to surrender himself. It is believed that the motive was jealousy.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred inside a house in Mueang District, Sakon Nakhon Province. In front of the bathroom, the body of Mr. Them, age 51, former headman of Dong Noi Village, was found with a shotgun wound that entered his right ribcage and exited through his right chest, 7-8 times. Nearby, a shotgun leaning against a jar and a casing were found.
The perpetrator was Mr. Phonsak, 47, the owner of the house where the incident occurred, who was the one who called the police and was sitting under the raised wooden house waiting for the police to come and arrest him. He insisted that he was the one who committed the crime by shooting from the upper floor of the house, aiming at the back of the deceased while he was walking to the bathroom, at a distance of about 12-15 meters, until he collapsed and was still. The police had to rush Mr. Phonsak to Dong Mafai Police Station immediately, fearing that he would be attacked by a mob, since everyone in the village, including the wife and family of the deceased, had all come to the scene.
While Ms. Thipawan, 46 years old, the wife of the deceased, expressed her surprise at what had happened to make them do this because the two were very close. Before the incident, they were still socializing together. However, someone said that her husband had chatted with the wife of the perpetrator, but she did not believe it because she had not seen any evidence. There were only rumors.
Mr. Hai, aged 18, said that he saw the perpetrator, who was probably very drunk, shoot down from the upper floor of the house, hitting the deceased, and then turn to him and ask him if he wanted another shot. Out of fear, he quickly rode his bicycle to escape.
While the villagers told that the cause was likely due to jealousy, because Mr. Them was too close to the perpetrator's family, which caused a rift in his heart, repressed and committed the crime. The reporter tried to ask about the reason for killing his friend this time, but Mr. Phonsak kept his mouth shut and refused to say anything. Initially, he was prosecuted for intentional murder.
