Bangkok: A fire broke out at a chemical disposal factory owned by Environmental Conservation Management and Development Co., Ltd. on Soi Samae Dam 17, Samae Dam Subdistrict, Bang Khun Thian District, Bangkok. Smoke was billowing and flames were engulfing the room where magnesium and sulfuric acid were being disposed. Water was not readily extinguished, so officials sprayed water around the area to prevent the fire from spreading. Factory staff then used a backhoe to fill the area with sand and white cement. It took approximately 30 minutes to bring the situation under control.
According to Thai News Agency, officials coordinated with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's environmental unit and the district office to inspect the factory to determine the cause of the fire.
