Senate Committee Visits Sa Kaeo to Assess MOU 43-44 Cancellation

Sa kaeo: The Senate's committee studying the pros and cons of canceling MOU 43-44 visited Sa Kaeo, while the border demarcation continued for the third day. Today marks the third day that the Joint Thai-Cambodian Border Survey and Demarcation Team, Royal Thai Army Headquarters, will survey the claim line to place temporary markers at markers 42-43 in Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province.

According to Thai News Agency, over the past two days, drones have been used to take aerial photographs to map the course, covering a distance of 1,600 meters, GPS measuring 16 points from a distance of 14.3 kilometers, and a total of 838 markers must be placed within a 60-day timeframe. Meanwhile, today, the Senate Committee on the Pros and Cons of Revoking the 2000 and 2001 MOUs to Resolve the Thai-Cambodian Border Problems, led by Mr. Noppadon Inna, Chairman of the Special Committee, visited the area and initially received an overview of the Thai-Cambodian border situation at the Khok Sung District Meeting Room.

After that, there is a plan to visit the 41st boundary marker in Tapraya District. There is also a plan to visit the areas of Ban Nong Chan and Nong Ya Kaeo. The field visit will be attended by General Sawat Tasana, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Military Affairs and State Security and Chairman of the Committee's Advisory Board, and Police Colonel Kob Ajnakitti, Senator and Advisor to the Committee.

Mr. Noppadol Inna, Chairman of the Committee, stated that this field visit was beneficial because it provided in-depth information from the area, following previous visits to the Thai-Cambodian border areas of Trat and Surin. This visit will also include meeting with local villagers to listen to their feedback.
