Secretary-General of the Council of State Declines to Comment on Constitutional Court’s Decision on Collusion Case

Bangkok: The Secretary-General of the Council of State has chosen not to comment on a significant decision made by the Constitutional Court regarding the case involving "Phumtham-Thawee" and allegations of collusion in the Senate. The court is set to rule on the matter, which involves the selection of senators as a special case.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pakorn Nilpraphun, the Secretary-General of the Council of State, addressed the situation concerning the Constitutional Court's decision to accept a petition from Senators. The petition seeks to determine whether the ministerial status of Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, has ended. Both individuals had proposed that the process of selecting Senators be investigated by the Special Case Committee, aiming to treat it as a special case.

Mr. Pakorn emphasized that the case should be viewed similarly to that of Mr. Settha Thavisin, the former Prime Minister, whose situation was ruled on ethics grounds. He further stated that he would refrain from offering any opinions on the matter, as it has already been submitted to the Constitutional Court. He stressed the importance of waiting for the court's consideration.
