Sai Indira’s Unforgettable Dance with Royalty: A Memorable Encounter with the Queen Mother

Bangkok: Sai Indira recounts a cherished memory of meeting Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, during her time starring in the film "The Legend of King Naresuan." Her memoir details a special evening, leaving an indelible mark in her life.

According to Thai News Agency, Sai Indira shared her experience of meeting the Queen Mother in 2003-2004, a moment she wanted to record as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Sai Indira had previously met His Majesty King Rama IX, which she documented as a memorable event. She vividly recalls the evening she was invited to Klai Kangwon Palace, instructed to dress elegantly for a dinner hosted by the Queen Mother, who was interested in the film's progress.

During the dinner, Sai Indira sat nervously across from the Queen Mother. She fondly remembers the delicious food, especially the stewed pork cheek noodles, though she was too timid to ask for more. Among the guests were Than Mui, Mom Kamala, and various high-ranking officials, creating an atmosphere filled with live music and a mix of contemporary and old songs.

As the night progressed, the tables were rearranged for dancing. Sai Indira, initially confused, was gestured by Than Mui to dance. Mistakenly, she asked Somdej to dance instead of the intended governor. Despite her apprehension, she danced with Somdej, focusing on her steps to avoid stepping on his foot. After the dance, she was informed of her mistake but was relieved when His Majesty later expressed his enjoyment, inviting her for another dance in the future.

The incident has since been a source of laughter among her acquaintances, yet it remains a treasured memory for Sai Indira, as she reflects on the unique experience of dancing with royalty.
