Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army has initiated a campaign to support the 2nd Army Region following the leak of an audio conversation involving Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, and Samdech Hun Sen, the President of the Senate and former Prime Minister of Cambodia. The leaked conversation included discussions about Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, the Commander of the 2nd Army, allegedly being on an opposing side.
According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Thai Army has launched a hashtag to save the 2nd Army Region, emphasizing the revered role of soldiers in Thai society. Soldiers are described as individuals who are honored by the nation, carrying weapons to protect the country, sacrificing personal interests for the well-being of citizens, and valuing honor over monetary gain.
Additionally, the Smart Soldiers Strong Army page conveyed a strong message about the duty of all Thai people to defend the nation, protect its honor, national interests, and public assets as outlined in the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand. The message highlights the sacrifice of ancestors who fought to preserve the land, urging current and future generations to uphold this legacy with integrity and dedication.
The message also asserts that Thailand's independence will not be compromised, with soldiers poised to protect the nation's sovereignty.
A visual display in front of the Army Club on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road further affirmed this support, showing an image of the Commander of the 2nd Army Region alongside a message of backing for his leadership role.
