Royal Thai Army Engages Foreign Military Attach©s in Security Briefing

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army has extended an invitation to foreign military attach©s for a meeting aimed at clarifying security issues, with a focus on the Southern Border Provinces and the Thai-Cambodian border situation. Lieutenant General Kamchai Wongsri, Director-General of the Royal Thai Army Intelligence Department, led the Quarterly RTA Briefing for the third quarter. The session, held at the Royal Thai Army Headquarters, addressed concerns regarding the security landscape in these sensitive areas.

According to Thai News Agency, the briefing was attended by assistant military attach©s from various countries, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ISOC, SBPAC, Military Intelligence Department, and Military Border Department. With over 50 personnel present, the session aimed to update Defense Attach©s to Thailand and other stakeholders on the developments in the southern border provinces. The objective was to ensure the safety of residents and promote multiculturalism in an area described as fragile and complex.

The briefing also covered the specific situation on the Thai-Cambodian border, where the Army Intelligence Department provided a detailed account of the events and outlined the army's stance on resolving issues peacefully. The Thai government has been employing bilateral international mechanisms to address the border concerns effectively.

This initiative is recognized as a proactive form of defense diplomacy intended to foster mutual understanding and sustainable security cooperation internationally, thereby enhancing good international relations.
