Chon Buri: Four ROTC students have been praised for their bravery and quick thinking in assisting police in apprehending a thief who was caught in the act of cutting electric wires.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos Thepchamnong, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, commended the cadets for their exemplary actions, which set a standard for the younger generation. The students, Mr. Chanon Pralao, Mr. Chaimongkol Pamadee, Mr. Komkrit Chatthai, and Mr. Phan Det Sirimak, all Mathayom 5 students at Bang Lamung School, stepped in to assist the Na Chom Thian Police Station's investigation team during a recent operation in Chon Buri Province.
The incident unfolded on May 24, 2025, around 11:00 a.m., when the police team was investigating a gang involved in electric wire theft. Upon spotting a suspicious individual at Soi Jomtien 6, the police moved to arrest him, leading to a chaotic scene. The four cadets, witnessing the commotion, intervened to help control the suspect, ultimately leading to his arrest along with the recovery of tools and a motorcycle used in the crime.
The suspect, a 32-year-old man, confessed to acting alone and admitted to selling the stolen wires to fund his drug purchases. He now faces charges of theft using a vehicle and possession of Category 1 narcotics, including methamphetamine. The police plan to further investigate potential gang involvement.
The commendation of the cadets includes certificates of honor to be awarded by the Police Commander on May 28. Additionally, Pol. Col. Phatthana Roprue, Superintendent of Na Chom Thian Police Station, will present certificates and scholarships to the cadets at Bang Lamung School on May 27, recognizing their contributions as role models of bravery and community spirit.
