Jomtien Beach: Criticism erupts after a monk and a laywoman watch the sunset on Jomtien Beach, taking turns taking romantic selfies before buying souvenirs at a market on Jomtien Road. Last evening, a monk and a laywoman were seen walking along Jomtien Beach, watching the sunset and taking turns taking photos as souvenirs, while a large number of people and tourists watched. According to Thai News Agency, from the video clip recorded by the villagers, it was found that a monk was walking beside a young woman, watching the sunset. The point that the villagers heavily criticized was the moment when the two stood close together, looking at a photo together, and there was a moment when the young woman gave the monk a bag to hold, as if they knew each other very well. Ms. A (pseudonym), 43 years old, one of the tourists who witnessed the incident, provided information that while she was eating on the beach, she saw a monk walking with a young woman in a white dress, taking turns taking pictures of each other alo ne before walking over to stand close to her and helping each other check the photos on their phones. Looking at it, it was viewed as inappropriate. Reporters followed the group and found that they consisted of a monk aged between 35 and 45 years old and three young women aged between 35 and 60 years old. After the sun set, they all walked into the Jomtien Road market to buy souvenirs and food, surprising the vendors who saw them. A vendor at the market mentioned that he had never seen this group of people before. They all came to buy pain relief balm. From what he heard, they did not speak Thai, so he was not sure if they were real monks or not. However, because of their clothing, it was clear that they were monks, the villagers definitely thought it was inappropriate. After the clip was released online, many netizens criticized the monk's behavior in the clip, questioning whether it violated the monastic discipline. They also called on the relevant agencies to urgently investigate and clarify whether the monk was a real monk or not and whether the actions that occurred were within the appropriate limits.
