Bangkok: The Revenue Department, in collaboration with the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and Krungthai Bank, is set to revolutionize tax collection management through the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. This innovative partnership aims to enhance government services, improve tax collection efficiency, and foster a transparent and auditable tax system. According to Thai News Agency, the collaboration was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by the Revenue Department, NSTDA, and Krungthai Bank. This agreement targets the development, extension, and transfer of AI technology to align with the national strategy, thereby supporting public services and increasing government efficiency. Mr. Pinsai Suraswadi, Director-General of the Revenue Department, highlighted the strategic focus on fully integrating AI technology between 2025 and 2027. This initiative is expected to drive organizational progress, enhance public service, and create a fair tax system. The collaboration seeks to utilize AI to innovate and improve the country's tax system, enhance taxpayer competitiveness, and facilitate knowledge exchange. The Revenue Department has outlined a comprehensive plan for short, medium, and long-term improvements in tax collection and digital services for taxpayers. AI technology will expedite tax analysis, audits, and tailor services to individual needs. Effective AI utilization necessitates robust digital infrastructure, AI personnel, and governance based on AI ethics. Through collaboration with NSTDA and NECTEC, and the digital infrastructure of Krungthai Bank, the tax system is poised to become modern, reliable, and ethical. Professor Dr. Chukit Limpijamnong, Director of NSTDA, emphasized the importance of localized AI technology for understanding the Thai context, including language and culture. This approach will enhance public services and safeguard government data. NSTDA is committed to leveraging its expertise to support technology and personnel development, creating AI innovations unique to Thailand. Mr. Payon Srivanich, President and CEO of Krungthai Bank, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, particularly in developing the "RD Voice Chatbot," a conversational assistant providing tax information via AI. This system is intended to improve communication and expand public access to tax information. Krungthai Bank will utilize its digital infrastructure to enhance AI model training and deployment. As a GovTech Enabler, Krungthai Bank is dedicated to using technology to develop accessible and equitable government services, prioritizing safety and fairness for all sectors of society. This initiative aims to positively impact society, improve quality of life, and drive economic growth in Thailand.
