Ban nong chan: Representatives of Nong Chan villagers confirmed they will gather on October 31st at Ban Nong Chan to reclaim sovereign territory. They stated that despite the signing of the agreement by the Thai and Cambodian prime ministers, they are unsure of the process, as Cambodia has always made changes in the past.
According to Thai News Agency, reporters observed the atmosphere in Ban Nong Chan, where representatives of villagers with land in areas affected by Cambodia’s sovereignty claims have gathered. They held discussions to reach a consensus following an earlier announcement that if authorities had not removed Cambodians from Thai territory by October 31st, the villagers would begin their own protests. The conclusion was that the gathering would proceed as planned on October 31st. A recent meeting with Mr. Wira Somkid, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption People’s Network, confirmed his intention to visit Ban Nong Chan on that day.
Ms. Praparat Kanniyom, a representative of Nong Chan villagers, stated that the gathering is intended to reinforce the villagers’ sovereignty, which they believe has been violated for a long time and requires resolution. She expressed satisfaction with the 1st Army Area’s continued efforts to defuse bombs and return safe areas to the people. However, she demanded a clear government policy, particularly concerning the joint border demarcation agreement with Cambodia. She sought confirmation that the agreement could be implemented without further postponements and believed the government needed to clarify the matter.
