Region 2 Army Commander Reveals Soldiers Injured by Landmine on Patrol

Ubon ratchathani: The commander of Army Region 2 revealed that soldiers stepped on a landmine while patrolling from the Morakot Operations Base to Hill 481 on the Chong Bok border in Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. Three soldiers were injured but are safe. It is believed that the bomb was left in the original battle area.

According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Area, stated that the 2302nd Ranger Company Reconnaissance Unit (Reconnaissance Unit, Ranger Company 2302) (Dusit) has deployed 14 personnel, consisting of 2 Rangers, 6 RDF, and 6 Engineers, to patrol from the Morakot Operations Base to Hill 481 on the Chong Bok border in Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province.

The patrolling team stepped on a landmine at coordinates WA 220 861. An inspection of the area revealed that the landmine was left in a former battle area, injuring three soldiers. The patrolling team radioed for medical assistance to provide first aid before taking them to the hospital.

The Bell 212 helicopter was deployed to pick up the injured personnel from stepping on a landmine. They included Sergeant Patipat Silasak and Private Nattawut Srikhem, who were injured by the force of the blast and suffered chest pains and ringing in their ears. Private Thanapat Huiwan was in serious condition from the force of the blast and lost one of his legs.

On the same evening, Maj. Gen. Sompop Pharawet, Commander of the Suranaree Force, traveled to visit the injured soldiers to offer encouragement. Col. Sala Thapthaworn, Director of the Saraphasitprasong Camp Hospital, provided details and closely looked after the injured soldiers.
