Crowds flock to see 'real termite mushrooms' growing on a termite mound behind a monk's hut at a temple in Korat. They counted 118 mushrooms. Two grandmothers collected them to make mushroom curry and offer to monks. They believe that the sacred things inspire people to be interested in making merit at the temple. After finding genuine termite mushrooms growing on a termite mound behind the hut of Phra Sumet Sumetho, the caretaker of Wat Saensuk, Ban Don Saensuk, Khong Buri District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, in the hundreds, it has caught the attention of many villagers who have flocked to see it. Some villagers said that although mushrooms growing on a termite mound is not unusual, it is rare to see this many mushrooms growing on a termite mound. Moreover, the termite mushrooms are complete, large and plump, so the villagers are especially interested. Phra Sumet Sumetho, who resides at the aforementioned kuti, told Grandma Arun, aged 77, and Grandma Rian, aged 72, the elders who live near the temple, t o come and collect termite mushrooms growing on the termite mound behind the kuti to cook and eat because they were afraid that if they were left, they would be useless. All of the termite mushrooms had fully grown and some had sprouted, so they asked them not to pull them all out, but to leave some roots or rhizomes as fuel for the next batch of mushrooms to grow again. The two grandmothers carefully collected all of the termite mushrooms, counting as many as 118 mushrooms, leaving only the mushroom roots as Phra Sumetho had told them to. Grandma Arun and Grandma Rian said that all of these mushrooms will be used to make mushroom curry to offer to monks to gain merit. They personally believe that the mushrooms growing on the termite mound, which has attracted the attention of many people, may be the wish of a sacred being that inspired them to do so, showing the abundance of the village called 'Don Saen Suk' and 'Wat Saen Suk', and may also want to invite people to come to this temple to see many things tha t the temple lacks and to come and make more merit with the temple.
