Protesters Demand Immediate Resignation of Prime Minister Paethongtarn

Bangkok: The United Front for the Land to Protect Thai Sovereignty group gathered at Victory Monument, undeterred by the rain, to demand the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra. Protesters occupied both the road and overpass as group leaders delivered speeches and read a statement accusing the Prime Minister of hostile behavior towards the country. The coalition parties subsequently withdrew.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nitithorn Lamluea, representing the protest group, read a statement highlighting a longstanding political crisis in Thailand. Since 1932, the country's political structure has struggled to adhere to a democratic regime with the King as the head of state. The statement criticized the executive, legislative, and judicial branches for failing to perform their duties effectively, leading to crises in various sectors, including politics, economics, and justice.

The statement further accused political figures, monopoly capitalists, and officials of undermining the constitution, rule of law, and national sovereignty. It claimed that these groups have engaged in behaviors detrimental to preventing and eliminating corruption and have governed the country arbitrarily under foreign influence.

Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra was specifically accused of incompetence, dishonesty, and ethical violations. Her policies were described as undermining national security and the country's key institutions. The statement alleged that she conspired with enemies of the state and violated constitutional duties, leading to a breach of trust with the people and a violation of her oath of office.

Despite these allegations, the cabinet and coalition parties continue to support Paethongtarn Shinawatra, allowing her to remain in office. The protest group insists that her resignation is necessary to preserve the democratic regime, national security, and sovereignty of Thailand.
