Prime Minister’s Dinner Meeting A Strategic Move Before No-Confidence Debate

Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has shed light on the forthcoming dinner meeting organized by the Prime Minister with coalition parties, stating it is a preparatory move ahead of the impending no-confidence debate. Anutin emphasized that the meeting, scheduled for March 21, was planned weeks in advance to ensure all necessary information is ready, rather than out of concern about the no-confidence votes.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin mentioned that the Prime Minister initiated this meeting two to three weeks ago, underscoring the intention to convene before the no-confidence motion. The gathering will be a small, exclusive one, involving only party leaders, with party secretaries not in attendance. Anutin added that while details remain uncertain, the meeting's primary aim is to strategize rather than address any immediate apprehensions.

In response to inquiries about the Bhumjaithai Party's voting intentions, Anutin refrained from providing specifics, urging not to dwell on speculative questions. He reinforced that the coalition party operates under its own established rules. Additionally, Anutin confirmed that Mr. Ekkarat Changlao continues to serve as a Member of Parliament for the Bhumjaithai Party, suggesting stability within the coalition.

Anutin further clarified that the Prime Minister's decision to dine with coalition parties before the debate was not driven by anxiety. Instead, the advance scheduling of the dinner was meant to prepare for the debate, highlighting that the participants in the no-confidence debate were not known when the meeting was arranged. Now that the details are clearer, the dinner serves as a strategic session to organize and consolidate information.
