Berlin: Pick up the phone to talk to the Prime Minister of Malaysia to help solve the flooding problem in the Golok River basin. The Prime Minister called from Germany to talk to the "Malaysian Prime Minister" to prepare for cooperation in solving the flooding problem in the Golok River basin, pushing for the construction project of a new road connecting the Sadao checkpoint and the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint, expected to be completed by October.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, posted a message on social media while traveling to Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany, between March 3-8, stating that today I had a telephone conversation with Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, about readiness to cooperate in solving the flooding problem in the Golok River basin for mutual benefit and alleviate the problems for the people in the area.
The Prime Minister also stated that since the water management issue is an important agenda for the governments of both countries, on this occasion, I have discussed with Mr. Anwar to expedite the drafting of the Memorandum of Understanding, the Agreement on the Certification of Survey Results and the Establishment of Fixed Boundaries along the Golok River, and the draft Memorandum of Understanding on the Integrated Management Plan of the Golok River Basin, so that both parties can jointly determine the mechanisms and guidelines for cooperation in solving the problem systematically and sustainably. At the same time, I discussed pushing for the construction project of the new Sadao Checkpoint-Bukit Kayu Hitam Checkpoint road to be completed on schedule. The Thai side's road is expected to be completed by October 2025. This is a discussion that I believe will benefit the people of both countries.
