Prime Minister Visits Parliament Canteen to Enjoy Sweets After Censure Debate

Bangkok: The Prime Minister visited the Parliament canteen after the censure debate, stating a desire to take a break from politics to indulge in sweets and drinks. The visit followed a successful confidence vote in which the Prime Minister secured 319 votes of support.

According to Thai News Agency, after the House of Representatives meeting to vote no confidence in the Prime Minister, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, returned to her office at Government House for further meetings. Upon noticing the Parliament's cafeteria on the ground floor, she decided to visit for the first time, as it was typically closed during her previous evening visits.

During her visit, the Prime Minister ordered fried chives dumplings from a noodle and pork leg rice shop, mentioning that she planned to enjoy them in the afternoon. She then proceeded to a dessert and beverage shop to order bread topped with butter and sugar, along with a matcha latte, expressing a craving for something sweet.

In a light-hearted exchange with reporters, the Prime Minister joked about the need to offset the "salt" from politics with some sugar. When reminded of her student days at Chulalongkorn University, she reminisced about enjoying a unique drink blend, though she refrained from ordering more than one drink this time.

Reporters continued to engage with the Prime Minister, asking if the 319 votes of confidence made her feel good. She playfully acknowledged their teasing, admitting that she indeed felt good. Her presence attracted attention from vendors and parliament officials, who eagerly took selfies with her in a friendly atmosphere.
