According to Thai News Agency, today at 12:20 PM, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister and her entourage traveled to the Suranaree Force Operations Base, Kap Choeng District, Surin Province. They were welcomed by the Commander of the Suranaree Force Operations Base, Lieutenant General Boonsin Phadklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Area, and Major General Sompop Pharawet, Commander of the Suranaree Force.
Later, the Prime Minister gave gifts to encourage the troops, who were received by military representatives. She had lunch with Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, General Nattapol Nakphanit, Deputy Minister of Defense, Commander of the 2nd Army Region, and Commander of the Suranaree Forces.
After lunch, the Prime Minister engaged with the soldiers on duty, inquiring about their well-being and expressing gratitude for their efforts. She humorously noted the quiet demeanor of the soldiers, adding a light-hearted tone to the visit.
The Prime Minister discussed border checkpoint operations with General Nattapol before proceeding to the permanent border crossing at Chong Chom. Upon arrival, she attended a briefing on Thai-Cambodian border trade at the Border Coordination Unit, Area 2.
During the visit, the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) submitted a letter to the Prime Minister requesting the construction of a new permanent checkpoint in Surin Province, aiming to create a One Stop Service for efficiency.
The Prime Minister inspected the Chong Chom border checkpoint and received updates on the border crossing situation from Pol. Col. Chatchai Samnian, Immigration Bureau Superintendent of Surin Province, Mr. Chinnawat Jankasem, Chong Chom Customs Checkpoint Chief, and the Commander of Army Region 2.
The visit concluded with the Prime Minister interacting with local residents and government officials. She expressed interest in taking photos with the villagers, who complimented her presence. Additionally, a representative of the Interior Ministry Housewives Association presented her with Surin silk, which she graciously accepted, acknowledging her appreciation for the local craft.
