According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, led the 35-member Cabinet in announcing the results of the special Cabinet meeting. He stated that the Cabinet held its first special meeting and discussed important agenda items, including the draft government policy to be presented to Parliament. Confirmation from the Speaker of the House is expected early next week.
The meeting approved government policies focusing on four immediate issues: economic concerns, reducing expenses, and lowering the cost of living for citizens. The government is promoting the "Half-Half" scheme to reduce travel, transportation, and energy costs, thereby supporting a lower cost of living. Additionally, the government will encourage the increased use of renewable energy sources.
Regarding the Thai-Cambodian security dispute, military and diplomatic measures will be used in tandem to preserve Thailand's sovereignty and protect the interests of the Thai people.
In response to natural disasters, the government aims to expedite disaster warning and prevention systems and improve public care systems for swift and timely assistance. This involves amending regulations to ensure ease and flexibility for government officials in providing assistance, while preventing leakage and corruption.
To address social threats, the government plans to rigorously crack down on drug trafficking, online gambling, scammers, and fraud networks. Government officials neglecting their duties will face severe legal action, including possible dismissal and criminal prosecution. The government has a clear policy against supporting gambling businesses, entertainment complexes with casinos, and legalizing online gambling.
In addressing declining agricultural trade, the government will implement measures to assist farmers, reduce production costs, and prevent illegal imports of agricultural products from neighboring countries. The aim is to promote the development of smart agriculture.
A public health system will be established for universal access, and laws regarding education will be reformed to prepare Thailand for advancing technology and a low-carbon society.
The Cabinet has approved the Prime Minister's request for a written statement from the Speaker of the House of Representatives to be submitted to Parliament. The request seeks to proceed between September 28th and 30th, with policy implementation and debate over two days.
Guidelines for Cabinet meetings and project presentation timeframes have been established. All units have been informed to expedite and streamline working hours, complying with government regulations and laws. Cabinet members are expected to work around the clock, with no holidays, to maximize efficiency and address public issues swiftly. Cabinet meetings will be held as needed, potentially more than once a week when urgent.
