Prime Minister Engages in High-Level Discussions to Strengthen Thailand’s Global Standing

Gyeongju: The Prime Minister expressed his delight at Thailand's growing popularity on the global stage, with numerous friendly countries engaging in discussions during the 32nd Special Economic Zone Leaders' Meeting in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea. Emphasizing his commitment to becoming a part of new global rules, he has assured investors and tourists of Thailand's dedication to tackling scams and is set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping to further these goals.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister, alongside the Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, is utilizing the APEC forum to demonstrate Thailand's readiness for global integration. He aims to meet with as many friendly countries as possible, focusing on economic cooperation and investment opportunities. Among the discussions was a meeting with SK Bioscience, which explored the possibility of establishing a flu vaccine factory in Thailand, ensuring rapid access to vaccines in case of a future public health crisis.

The Prime Minister also engaged with the US business sector, emphasizing Thailand's openness to global investment and readiness to facilitate business operations through the elimination of bureaucratic delays. Highlighting Thailand's commitment to environmentally friendly energy and investment opportunities, he assured US businesses of the country's potential to generate income and create jobs for locals.

The "Half-Half Plus" program, praised by the US private sector, was highlighted by the Prime Minister as a model for economic stimulation through public participation. He underscored its role in boosting the economy, encouraging spending, and creating cash flow, expressing admiration for its short-term economic impact.

Addressing the issue of online crimes, the Prime Minister reiterated that scams are a national agenda item, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation to prevent and suppress technological crimes. He stressed the need to build investor and tourist confidence by tackling cybercrime and call center scams, which could deter investment and tourism if left unchecked.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Thailand's improved global outlook, with many countries seeking discussions and collaborations. He mentioned ongoing dialogues with Cambodian leaders to expedite understanding of bilateral agreements, showcasing Thailand's readiness in various sectors.

In meetings with the South Korean President and the New Zealand Prime Minister, the Prime Minister focused on enhancing trade and investment ties. He advocated for increasing the labor quota for Thai workers in South Korea, emphasizing their dedication and hard work.

Finally, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss trade, investment, and cooperation. He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with leaders from various countries, including the US, Canada, Vietnam, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand, further solidifying Thailand's international relationships.
