Prime Minister and Cabinet Discuss Constitutional Referendum and Cancellation of MOUs with Election Commission

Bangkok: The Prime Minister, accompanied by key members of the Cabinet, held a meeting with the Election Commission to discuss the possibility of conducting a referendum aimed at canceling the Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and preparing for an upcoming election. According to Thai News Agency, the meeting took place at the Election Commission (EC) office and saw the participation of prominent government figures, including Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister Bowornsak Uwanno, Deputy Minister of Interior Songsak Thongsri, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office Paradorn Prisananantakul, Cabinet Secretary Natthajaree Anantasilpa, and Budget Bureau Director Anan Kaewkamnerd. They were received by EC Chairman Itthiporn Boonprakong, EC Secretary-General Sawaeng Boonmee, and other EC members. The primary focus of the meeting was the proposal to hold a referendum concerning the draft constitution and the cancellation of MOUs 43-44, previously established between the Governme nts of Thailand and Cambodia. These discussions also included considerations for scheduling the general election day. The meeting was held privately, with media allowed to capture images of the initial atmosphere before discussions commenced.
