Prasert Calls for Patience as Ethics Committee Investigation Looms Over Audio Clip Issue

Bangkok: "Prasert" has urged patience as discussions continue regarding the establishment of an ethics committee by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to investigate the audio clip issue. This development follows his suggestion to "Phumtham-Paethongtarn" to consider requesting an extension for submitting a statement to the Constitutional Court.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society Prasert Chantarawongthong addressed the ongoing case involving Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai. Phumtham had indicated that Prime Minister and Minister of Culture Paethongtarn Shinawatra might seek a 15-day extension to submit a statement to the Constitutional Court. This statement concerns an audio clip of her conversation with Samdech Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Senate.

When questioned about the implications of requesting a postponement, Prasert emphasized that he is not worried, as the submission to the court necessitates thorough and complete information. He highlighted the importance of having time and rights to ensure that the best information is presented. Prasert reassured that the Prime Minister is well-prepared, supported by a legal team.

Regarding the NACC's decision to unanimously establish a committee to investigate the Prime Minister's ethics concerning the audio clip, Prasert noted that this is a separate matter that warrants observation to understand the NACC's objectives.
