Bangkok: "Prasert" stated that he will proceed with making the public understand before pushing the Entertainment Complex Act into the next parliament session, confirming that the Pheu Thai Party leaders are not worried. Mr. Prasert Jantarawongthong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, as a core leader of the Pheu Thai Party, spoke about the case of senators opposing the draft law on the establishment of a full-service entertainment complex, which proposed a referendum to ask for public opinions first, saying that it was the opinion of the senators, which he understood that yesterday there was a meeting and it was concluded as a motion by one senator, but today the government has postponed the consideration of the draft law.
According to Thai News Agency, as for what the next steps will be, Mr. Prasert said that the parliament is currently in the process of closing its session and the draft has not been dropped. It is still on the agenda. The parliament will close its session for about 60 days.
When asked whether the draft law will be pushed forward in the next session, as there will be some opposition, Mr. Prasert said that once the draft is on the agenda, he thinks that the House will consider when it will be implemented. As for concerns that the opposition group will escalate, Mr. Prasit said that this is something that needs to be understood because many groups and many people still do not understand the main points, and they have the right to criticize.
As for whether it is possible to reach an understanding with those who have different opinions during the parliamentary session closure, Mr. Prasit reiterated that it is a matter that needs to be understood. When asked further whether this meant that in the past, the public could not be made to understand, Mr. Prasert said that in the past, there had been some communication, such as the parliament setting up a special committee to study, which the study results found that they agreed. After that, there was a public opinion survey, which had already gone through those steps.
As for the Prime Minister stating that it will take 2 months to explain to the people, will the Pheu Thai Party have to explain to the people as well? Mr. Prasert stated that every law must be explained to the people. If they understand, there will be no problem. While meeting with Pheu Thai Party leaders at the extraordinary general meeting, whether the law will be interrupted or not, Mr. Prasert said that there is nothing, just have to wait for the right time, which the party leaders are not worried about. He emphasized that there is nothing to this matter, and there are still many urgent matters.
