Bangkok: Police have summoned the relatives of Dr. B, a spirit medium also known as Mr. Seksan, for further questioning in the ongoing investigation into corruption involving donations to Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu. A lawyer representing Dr. B has stated that the police have collected over 20 additional boxes of evidence from various search points.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Santi Panyachai Raksa, the lawyer of Mr. Seksan, revealed that Mr. Seksan had been questioned by the police for over 10 hours. Mr. Santi noted that he had not yet had the opportunity to speak with his client, who is still involved in the police interrogation process. As a result, the bail application process has not commenced.
The charges against Mr. Seksan remain unclear as legal discussions have not taken place yet. Mr. Santi emphasized that the legal team is preparing evidence to contest the charges in court, though it has not been presented. The cooperation of Mr. Seksan with the authorities remains uncertain, as the reasons for his eventual compliance have not been discussed.
Mr. Santi also mentioned that some of Mr. Seksan's relatives have been questioned by officials, although he is unaware of the specific individuals involved. When asked about the likelihood of Mr. Seksan being granted bail, Mr. Santi stated that this decision rests with the investigators.
During the search operations at Wat Phra Bat Nam Phu and other locations, officers have gathered substantial evidence, including documents, magazines, computers, and a document shredder. Over 20 boxes of materials are being prepared to reconstruct destroyed documents for prosecution purposes. The search operation, which started at around 6:00 a.m., lasted more than 12 hours.
Dr. Yutthana Masamran, representing former monk Alongkot, reported that the ex-monk cooperated well with the police and appeared at ease during questioning. However, relatives have not been permitted to visit him. The legal proceedings for the former monk will proceed following the completion of the investigation into Mr. Seksan. It is anticipated that former monk Alongkot will clarify the financial connections to the authorities.
