Bang Phlat: A pitbull named Milo was rescued by the Thai Animal Protection Association after being abandoned on a balcony by his owner, who fled due to unpaid rent. Milo was found in a dire state with multiple wounds and mosquito bites, suffering from severe malnutrition.
According to Thai News Agency, the rescue operation was led by Mr. Roger Lohanan and his team from the Dog and Cat Rescue Unit. They responded to a call for help at a rented room behind Wat Thong, Charansanitwong 46, where Milo had been locked on the balcony since January 25th. His owner, who had been unable to pay rent for several months, moved out without taking Milo. The balcony was discovered to be unsanitary, littered with feces and neglected bowls of food and water.
The landlord revealed that the tenant had promised to return for Milo but never did. She noticed Milo's declining health and reported the situation to the Thai Animal Protection Foundation, expressing concern for his physical and mental well-being. The landlord, who is an animal lover, feared that the mosquito bites could lead to heartworm disease due to prolonged exposure.
Milo's rescue highlights the importance of responsible pet ownership and the ongoing efforts of animal welfare organizations in addressing such situations.
