Samut Sakhon: A pickup truck carrying a group of workers crossed a railway track at high speed, leading to a fatal incident where one worker jumped out in shock and was crushed by an oncoming train.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage captured the harrowing moment when the pickup truck, loaded with workers, made a right turn onto a railway crossing just as a train was approaching. In a panic, six workers in the back attempted to leap from the vehicle. Tragically, one of them lost balance, fell onto the tracks, and was fatally struck by the train. This unfortunate event took place at the entrance of Soi Narongmit 1, Derm Bang Road, Tambon Mahachai, Amphoe Mueang Samut Sakhon. The train involved was on the Wongwian Yai-Mahachai line, traveling from Wongwian Yai Station in Bangkok to Mahachai Station in Samut Sakhon Province.
Mr. Kamsan, the 43-year-old driver of the pickup truck, stated that he was en route to pick up approximately 7-10 Myanmar workers to transport them to a nearby dormitory. He recounted that he was driving as usual when the train approached. Believing he had safely crossed the railroad, he was startled by his passengers' commotion, prompting him to stop the vehicle. Upon inspection, he discovered the tragic outcome; the workers had already been struck.
Relatives of the deceased explained that the workers were alarmed by the train's warning whistle as they feared an imminent collision. The workers attempted to jump from the truck, but the deceased lost control and fell onto the tracks, resulting in his death.
