Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira has confirmed that he proposed the name of the new Bank of Thailand governor to the Cabinet today. Pichai refrained from commenting on questions related to the US tax issue and its potential security implications.
According to Thai News Agency, Pichai revealed that during the Cabinet meeting, a proposal to appoint the new governor of the Bank of Thailand was discussed. He did not specify whether Mr. Vitai Ratanakorn, the current director of the Government Savings Bank, was the nominee, urging patience until the Cabinet process is fully completed.
When pressed about whether discussions with the United States regarding tariffs had security implications, Pichai emphasized that his focus remains solely on economic matters.
